Swing Big. Slice for SONC

Swing Big, Slice for SONC: UNCSA Police Team Up with Special Olympics for One-of-a-Kind Softgolf Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Forget everything you know about the "quiet" game of golf. The UNCSA Police Department is trading in the tiny white balls for a different kind of golf tournament.  On October 23, the Slice for SONC, a high-energy event, will be held at Softgolf at Tanglewood Park benefitting Special Olympics.

This isn’t your average day at the links. Softgolf features oversized clubs and soft, foam-core balls, making it accessible for pros and novices alike. The tournament features a unique “9 and 9” format: nine holes of full-swing Softgolf and nine holes of precision putting.

The heart of the event lies in its teamwork. Each registered group of five will be joined by a Special Olympics Athlete, creating a six-person powerhouse team. Participants can sign up as a team for $250 or join as individuals for $50 to be matched with new friends.

“This tournament is about more than just a scorecard,” said Raymond Baldorossi, Softgolf CEO

. “It’s about community, inclusion, and supporting the incredible athletes of the Special Olympics. Plus, it’s hard not to have a blast when you’re playing Softgolf.”

The day kicks off at 11:30 AM with registration and a champion-style lunch provided by City Barbeque. After fueling up on some of the best BBQ in town, players will head to the course for a 1:00 PM tee-off.
