Phygenia Young

Dr. Phygenia Young is an experienced higher education leader serving as Associate Dean of Programs and Services at Forsyth Technical Community College. With a strong background in academic leadership, teacher preparation, student success initiatives, and off-campus center administration, she leads cross-functional efforts that advance institutional priorities related to access, retention, and community outcomes.
Dr. Young’s work focuses on strengthening student support systems through innovative service models, strategic communication, and collaborative partnerships. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing initiatives that expand program offerings and enhance responsiveness at off-campus centers.
Her scholarship and practice center on community college transformation, with particular emphasis on localized outreach, equity-minded leadership, and student-centered design. Dr. Young holds a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership and actively contributes to professional organizations, conference presentations, and community-based initiatives that promote educational access and economic mobility.
