An annual fundraiser was started in 2019 with the Evans, Hopkins Fund for Cancer Patients where the money raised goes directly to cancer patients from the Kernersville community. Gypsy Road Brewing Company is dedicated to our community in so many ways.
From the owners:
We opened 2018 as a tap room serving local NC Beers while we waited for proper permitting. In 2019 we were able to fire up our 3 barrel system. We brew a variety of beers from Light Lagers, Hazy IPAS, Fruited Sours and Imperial Stouts. In keeping up with demand, our most recent purchase was 4, 7 barrel uni-tanks. In 2020 we won an award from the NC Brewers Cup for a Specialty Beer. “Ready to Rye’d” took home a silver medal.
We are located in a warehouse space, just off the Macy Grove Interchange in Kernersville. We leased the space in 2017 and it took almost a year to demo and up fit. Most everything in the brewery has been repurposed using materials from old houses and barns from around the area. John along with friends, staff, neighbors and family spent countless hours building tables, doors, light fixtures and most everything you see.
After the business was closed down temporarily in March due to the pandemic we had to regroup and figure out how to survive through all of the restrictions and how to move forward. We focused on getting our beer back into production and continued to work on our outdoor space. Building from the newly built stage that was completed one week prior to the shutdown we expanded the patio seating and added a large canopy with Steel beams that carries the character of the indoor space to the outdoors. This has become a gathering space for music, and numerous birthday, retirement and wedding parties. We are excited that our venue has become a destination and we have met so many people along the way.
In May of 2021, the brewery was named in Yes Weekly’s Triads Best of 2020. We were noted as: Best most unique place to hear live music, Best patio in Forsyth County, Best Male Bartender in Forsyth county, 2nd place for Best Music Venue, Second place for best live triad music show with of 2020 with Brothers Pearl and 3rd place Best Brewing Company in Forsyth County.
