July Business of the Month-Long Insurance Services
The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce, is proud to honor Long Insurance Services, a trusted independent insurance agency that has been serving individuals, families, and businesses for more than two decades, as our July Business of the Month.
Long Insurance Services was founded on August 1, 2003, by Duane Long. After spending 31 years in corporate America selling office equipment, Duane decided to pursue a new opportunity in the insurance industry. His vision was simple: provide exceptional service, personalized attention, and trusted guidance to every client.
Today, Long Insurance Services offers a comprehensive range of insurance products including personal home, auto, umbrella, life, cyber, malpractice, workers’ compensation, commercial, and general liability insurance. As an independent agency, they ensure clients receive coverage tailored to their unique needs.
A true pillar of the Kernersville community, Long Insurance Services has built its reputation on relationships, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Duane’s son, Monte Long, joined the agency part-time in 2014 while working for a company selling sporting goods equipment. In 2017, he transitioned to the agency full-time, and in 2018 became the sole shareholder. Together, their dedication to service and attention to detail have earned them a stellar reputation throughout the insurance industry and among the communities they serve. The agency has received numerous recognitions, including the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award and the Torch Award from the Better Business Bureau.
Both Duane and Monte are widely recognized for their leadership and dedication to the community. Duane has devoted countless hours to civic and nonprofit organizations throughout the region. His service includes primarily roles of President, Chair, or Board Member of; the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Kernersville Preservation Society, Board of Trustees for Kernersville Moravian Church, Hands On Northwest NC, Rotary Club of Kernersville, Korners Folly Foundation, Crisis Control Ministry of W-S and the Kernersville Foundation.
Monte has continued the family tradition of community leadership. He is the incoming president of the Kernersville Rotary Club, serves on the boards of the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce, Folly Foundation, AMRF, and is a Passport Member of the Kernersville Museum. His previous leadership roles include President of the Appalachian Ski Foundation and Town Council Member for the Town of Lewisville.
Family remains at the heart of Long Insurance Services. Duane is married to his wife, Diane, and Monte is married to his wife, Laura. Together, Monte and Laura are raising their three daughters, Mercer, Lucy, and Phobe. Duane and Monte are grateful for the support, partnership, and encouragement that they receive daily from their beautiful family.
When asked about retirement, Duane often jokes that he plans to retire only when he can no longer climb the stairs to the office. Until then, he and Monte remain focused on serving their clients and continuing to grow their business in the community they love.
